Makoa is a 5K, 10K, and half marathon series held at Wai Kai in Ewa Beach on West Oahu. The start and finish are at Hawaii's sole waterfront recreation facility. The courses are flat and fast, with each route measured at least three times before race day. Aid stations are positioned about a mile apart, offering water, electrolytes, and first aid, with medical support at every start and finish line. Finishers receive custom medals with distance-specific ribbons, cooling towels, free professional race photos, and a post-race meal of breakfast burritos and chocolate milk.

The Ku'ikahi 5K & 10K is a road race in Honolulu, starting from Ala Moana Beach Park, offering both 5K and 10K distances. Aloha Racing presents the event, which begins early in the morning on a fast, flat oceanfront course. It is a relatively new race, with an expected field of approximately 1 to 100 participants, distinguishing it from large city races.
