Run for Freedom 5K & Fun Run
The Run for Freedom 5K & Fun Run is part of the Freedom's Run Race Series in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. The series includes the Harper's Ferry Half & 5K, the October Freedom's Run event, and Camp River Runners, with race distances from a kids' mile to a full marathon.
Dr. Mark Cucuzzella and Lois Turco founded Freedom's Run to encourage healthier habits in the region. The series is guided by the Eastern Area Health Education Center of WVU Medicine. Entry fees support the Freedom's Run Grant, which funds health and wellness projects across a nine-county service area, including local trails at schools and youth and adult camps. The organizers note the events helped start a local running boom, providing residents with more ways to stay active and drawing runners through the Eastern Panhandle and neighboring communities.
Stable View Aiken Trailblazer Halloween Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, Kids Fun Run
Stable View Aiken Trailblazer is a Halloween-themed trail race at the Stable View equestrian facility in Aiken, South Carolina. Runners can choose a half marathon, 10K, 5K, 5K Steeplechase option, or Kids Fun Run, suiting longer-distance runners, families, and those seeking a short fall trail race.
The course crosses trails across the 1,000-plus acre facility, featuring gently rolling hills and wooded sections. The steeplechase 5K adds a few jumps and a water jump near the finish, complementing the horse-country setting. Finishers receive a medal and shirt, with post-race food and hot showers available. Awards are presented to the top three female and male finishers in the half marathon, 10K, and 5K.
North Augusta Hardest & Funnest 5k
The North Augusta Hardest & Funnest 5K takes runners on four short loops starting at 100 North Main Street in North Augusta, South Carolina, as part of the Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee. This Halloween-season 5K offers a solo run/walk, a relay for teams up to four, and a Kids Run for younger participants.
The course deviates from a standard 5K: each 0.75-mile lap features a 100-foot challenge lane. The first lap requires lunges, the second a bear crawl, the third burpee broad jumps, and the final lap is a sprint to the finish. The relay allows a team to divide the distance, and the Kids Run provides a shorter version for children. Registration provides a custom race shirt and a finisher award, with additional awards presented after the kids' race.
Aiken Trailblazer Halloween Marathon, Half Marathon - 10K - 5K - Kids Fun Run at Stable View
The Aiken Trailblazer Halloween races are Halloween-themed trail runs held at Stable View, a 1,000-acre equestrian facility in Aiken.
The race distances offered include a Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and a Kids Fun Run.
The courses follow Stable View's trails, featuring gentle rolling hills and wooded sections. Four aid stations will provide water and Nuun. Participants receive a finisher medal, shirt, post-race food, and access to hot showers. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in the half marathon, 10K, and 5K. Age group awards, for those aged 14 and under up to 75 and over, are given to first-place finishers. The marathon, the newest distance, maintains the Halloween theme, with a chance of spotting the Headless Horseman along the course.
Whiskey Road Race
The Whiskey Road Race sends its 10K field down Whiskey Road in Aiken, South Carolina, with a 5K offered for runners and walkers seeking a shorter option. This race has been a fixture in Aiken for over 40 years. The main 10K and 5K begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by a 1-Mile Fun Run and Tot Trot at 9:30 a.m.
The 10K route crosses Aiken’s historic horse district and South Boundary Avenue, offering a course closely connected to the town rather than a standard loop. Participants travel from across the CSRA and South Carolina. Both the 5K and 10K utilize chip timing, and the event benefits the Cumbee Center to Assist Abused Persons, supporting victims of domestic and sexual violence.
Gobbler 5K, 10K & 13.1M at Augusta, GA
2026 Palmetto Peach Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K
The Palmetto Peach Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K begins at SRP Park in North Augusta, South Carolina. The half marathon starts at 8:00 AM, with the 10K and 5K following. The course's unique feature is crossing from South Carolina into Georgia and back. This road race series offers chip timing, live results, finisher medals, and awards for overall and age-group winners in all three distances.
The route starts in North Augusta, utilizing the North Augusta Greeneway and passing through downtown before crossing the Savannah River into Augusta, Georgia. Augusta, the hometown of James Brown, adds a musical heritage element to the course. The finish returns runners to SRP Park, completing the circuit from the baseball park start to a home-plate-style finish. The half marathon includes six water stops, with Gu and Nuun at select stations, and the 10K also provides on-course nutrition. Participant numbers are limited to 1,800, indicating strong local interest that may lead to registration closing before race weekend.
Battle of the Run Clubs
Battle of the Run Clubs is a January cross-country team challenge in Aiken, South Carolina. It features a one-mile adult steeplechase where runners navigate small horse jumps, ditches, banks, and potentially water. The event also offers 5K, 10K, and 10-mile races, along with a free kids' fun run. The schedule begins with the steeplechase, followed by the 10-mile race, 10K, and 5K, each starting a half-hour after the previous one.
The team format is designed for established run clubs, informal friend groups, families, and individual runners. Smaller teams can be merged, and solo participants can register as Free Agents to contribute to a mixed team score. Post-race activities at Stable View include food from Graze and Gaze, an awards ceremony, lawn games, on-site showers, and adult beverages available for purchase at the Tavern.
2027 Augusta Half Marathon 10K 5K
The Augusta Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K all begin and end at Augusta University’s Summerville Campus, next to the Grover C. Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre. This annual road race takes place in Augusta, Georgia, with the half marathon starting first, followed by the 10K and 5K. Participants can select from a 13.1-mile race, a 10K, a 5K, or a virtual option. A free Youth Fun Run is available for children in kindergarten through third grade.
The courses are USATF certified, ensuring accurate distance measurement. Each race also qualifies participants for the AJC Peachtree Road Race. The Augusta Sports Council organizes the event, with Georgia Carolina Orthopedics as the presenting sponsor. Proceeds benefit the council’s local sports initiatives and the G.A.M.E.S. Scholarship Fund, which awards selected graduating high school student athletes each May. The council originated from Augusta volunteers aiming to increase local sporting events and has since helped establish, attract, or support hundreds of community events.
Heart and Sole 5k
The Heart & Sole 5K begins and ends at The Children's Hospital of Georgia on Harper Street in downtown Augusta. This is a yearly Saturday-morning 5K, with the main race starting at 9:00 a.m. The series is now in its twentieth running.
The course is set around the hospital, not a park or stadium, giving the event a distinct local focus. Adults may enter the main 5K. Children age 10 and under have two choices: a free untimed entry without a shirt, or a timed entry that includes a shirt. Additional race shirts are also available for purchase while supplies last.
3 Bridges 5K & 10K
The 3 Bridges 5K & 10K is an Augusta race held on the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area’s River Levee Trail. Participants can choose between in-person 5K and 10K races, or virtual versions of either distance. The in-person events begin and end at the Lake Olmstead Trailhead. The 5K follows a paved out-and-back course suitable for runners and walkers.
The 5K route crosses three bridges spanning the Savannah River and the Augusta Canal. The 10K follows the same path for its initial 3 miles. It then continues along the canal path beyond the pump station before returning to Lake Olmstead. A portion of the race proceeds is donated to the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area to support trail maintenance and improvements. The event was recognized as “Best 5K in Augusta.” Virtual participants may submit their times within the designated race window, though these results are not eligible for awards.
