The 5K follows a paved out-and-back course suitable for runners and walkers.
The 5K route crosses three bridges spanning the Savannah River and the Augusta Canal. The 10K follows the same path for its initial 3 miles. It then continues along the canal path beyond the pump station before returning to Lake Olmstead. A portion of the race proceeds is donated to the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area to support trail maintenance and improvements. The event was recognized as “Best 5K in Augusta.” Virtual participants may submit their times within the designated race window, though these results are not eligible for awards.

地元の人はAugusta Canal pathのフラットなgravelでZ2走るんだ。インターバルやる時は、半マイルごとのマーカーが目安になって、サボらずちゃんと追い込めるよ。週の始まりは、Fleet Feet Sports Augustaが企画してるイベントがいくつかあるね。月曜の夜7時にはFamily Y Track Night、あとMetro Coffee Houseからは月曜6時にMonday Metro Groupがあるよ。火曜はBroad StreetでNacho Mamas Group Runが5時半と6時にスタートするんだ。Homer Hustleだと、North Augusta Greenewayで3〜4マイル走るグループと、8マイルくらいのグループに分かれてるよ。地元の主要レースは、2027 Augusta Half Marathon 10K 5K、The Trellis 10k、The Big Run、Palmetto Peach Half Marathon, 10K, 5Kとかかな。
自転車だと、脚にしっかりbase miles入れたい時は、Augusta Canal SouthとかAugusta Canal Northのgravelを走るのが定番だね。North Augusta Greenewayは舗装された7-mileのrail-trailで、Phinizy Swamp Nature Parkにはバイクやハイキング用の14 milesのtrailがあるよ。FATSのsingletrackは5〜8 milesのtrailがあって、singletrackの日にはちょうどいい感じ。距離は06 kmで獲得標高は517 m。あとは75 kmのルートもあるね。このメモにはAugustaの地元のcritとかgran fondoの情報は載ってないけどね。
Augustaには「この月が最高！」みたいな特定の時期は特にないから、みんな暑さ対策とか、グループラン、あとはシンプルなルートを中心に予定を組む感じかな。夏はLake Strom Thurmond/Clarks Hill Lakeで泳ぐのが定番。70,000-acreもあるから、ロングランやロングライドの時に水辺で休憩できるし、閉塞感がなくていいよ。Augusta Aquatic Centerは、ちゃんと構成された練習したい時に、ラップスイマーやトライアスリートに屋内の選択肢を提供してくれる。冬は、紙面上ではあんまり変化ないかな。Augusta Canal、North Augusta Greeneway、Blanchard Woods Park、Bartram Trail、FATSは、ランもライドも通年で使ってるよ。
