Mending Minds 5k and 1 Mile
The Mending Minds 5k and 1 Mile is an annual run/walk for mental health awareness held at Smith Park, 4000 Greenbriar, in University Park, Texas. Participants can choose between a 5 km race or a 1 mile route (approximately 1.6 km). Registration is available on the event day in the morning prior to the 8:30 am start.
The event benefits the Parenting for the Present Foundation, an organization that provides resources, mental health services, and psychological testing for underprivileged children in South Dallas. Activities on race day include games, refreshments, t-shirts, and photo opportunities. Direct donations are accepted for those unable to attend. Pets are not permitted at the event.
Sister to Sister Fitness Festival 2026
The Sister to Sister Fitness Festival is a 5K walk/run in Cedar Hill, Texas, based at the Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center near Dallas. It is hosted by the Celebrating Life Foundation, a nonprofit that works to reduce the power of breast cancer through education, encouragement, early detection, and support for people affected by the disease. The event is built around movement, with onsite and virtual options so participants can walk, run, or move from home, a park, a neighborhood route, or the recreation center course. Its timing connects it with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and registration has started around $45.
This is more than a standard local 5K, because survivors, caregivers, families, friends, and community groups are central to the day. The festival has run for more than two decades and has marked a 25th edition, so it carries the feel of a long-running community health tradition rather than a one-off fundraiser. Past themes such as “We’re in this Together” and “Unstoppable Together” point to the same purpose: people showing up for one another while raising awareness about breast cancer. The virtual version grew out of a year when the event moved online, and it stayed useful because it lets people join even if they cannot get to Cedar Hill.

Dirt Circus - Dallas
Dirt Circus Dallas is a free trail-running festival in Flower Mound, Texas, centered on a casual 5K group run on nearby trails. It functions more as a community gathering than a traditional race; participants can run, observe, converse with race organizers, and immerse themselves in the local trail environment.
The event convenes local races, run clubs, running shops, coaches, brands, and vendors, featuring an expo alongside the run. The schedule also features a spectator-friendly local elite exhibition run, a trail film screening, discussions with local outdoor specialists, breakfast and lunch, and a social gathering at a brewery. UltraSignup characterizes the series as a real-world extension of its platform, enabling runners and race directors to connect in person and exchange insights on races, locations, and trails.
DRC's The Half (13.1, 10K & 5K)
Sweater Weather Run 15k, 10k & 5k
Sweater Weather Run is a fall running event in Mesquite, Texas, based at 223 W. Davis Street. It offers three distances: 5K, 10K, and 15K, with all races scheduled in the morning between 8am and 10am Central time.
The race is built around cool-weather running, with participants encouraged to wear their favorite autumn gear. The distance options make it workable for newer runners, friends running together, and people chasing a longer effort before winter training sets in.
Vibha Dallas Dream Mile 2026
The Vibha Dallas Dream Mile begins at 200 N Buckner Blvd in Dallas, offering participants a choice of a 5K, 10K, or half marathon. This is a charity road race supporting Vibha, a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on education and learning outcomes for underprivileged children, primarily through government schools in India.
Dallas is one of the locations in the Dream Mile series, which originated with volunteer races in Dallas, the Bay Area, and Atlanta before expanding to over 20 cities. The series has generated more than $3 million, benefiting over 180,000 children. Vibha's overall initiatives have funded over 300 social entrepreneurs and invested more than $25 million in programs. The Dallas event also contributes to local service efforts via partners like Warm Up America, Tango Charities, and Study Buddy, a program providing year-round tutoring and mentorship to approximately 30 Bhutanese refugee children.
Run The Good Race - Garland
Run The Good Race - Garland is a 5K taking place in Garland, Texas, in November. Runners begin at 8:00 AM. The event is headquartered at Firewheel Town Center, a substantial shopping and dining complex north of Dallas, and is grouped with other Dallas-area races.
The course details are sparse, but the format suggests a standard local 5K, not a long-distance event or a multi-race festival. The venue's listed address is 205 Coneflower Drive. The race listing currently lacks runner reviews, offering minimal public insight into the route or the race-day atmosphere.
Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot
The Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning run in Dallas featuring a 5K run/walk, an 8-mile race, and a 1K Junior Trot for children. It has been a part of the city’s holiday tradition for over 55 years, serving as the largest Thanksgiving Day running event in Dallas. The 5K is suitable for beginners, walkers, families with strollers, grandparents, and anyone seeking a relaxed start to the holiday, while the 8-mile race offers a more challenging distance for experienced runners before the day's festivities commence.
The race began at White Rock Lake with 107 participants and has since become a North Texas Thanksgiving tradition for thousands of families from Dallas, Fort Worth, and surrounding areas. The event includes live music, food, family activities, and numerous holiday costumes, creating a community gathering atmosphere rather than a competitive-only setting. All proceeds benefit the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas and its programs, with Texas Health serving as the presenting sponsor and offering a free Train to Trot program for participants.
Heath Golf & Yacht Club Turkey Dash
The Heath Golf & Yacht Club Turkey Dash is a Thanksgiving morning fun run held at the clubhouse on Clubhouse Drive in Rockwall, Texas. This is the event's second year and it includes two distances: a 5K for adults and older children, and a Kid's 1K that begins earlier. All money raised benefits Helping Hands of Rockwall County, assisting local families facing hardship.
The 1K follows a simple out-and-back route from the clubhouse. The 5K follows a loop heading east on Governor's Drive, north on Trophy, and then west back to the clubhouse on Governor's Drive. All 1K finishers receive a medal, and the top three boys and girls are recognized. The 5K awards overall male and female finishers, as well as age-group winners, with prizes that match the location: gold, silver, and bronze golf balls.
Candy Cane Course - Dallas
The Candy Cane Course in Austin is an annual Christmas-themed running event held in the Austin area, with locations in Austin and nearby Pflugerville, Texas. Participants can choose from several race options: an untimed 1 Mile, chip-timed 5K and 10K races, a 15K, a Kids Dash for children 10 and under, and a virtual run for those preferring to participate on their own schedule.
The event is designed with families in mind. The 5K and 10K offer youth pricing for ages 12 and under. The Kids Dash includes a mini bib, youth shirt, and child-sized medal; children can also participate in the dash for free without the shirt and medal package. All finishers receive a designer shirt and custom medal. Live results and awards are provided for the timed races, and participant photos are available at no cost. TriSignup also lists a Volunteer then Run option. This race is part of the local Bodies Race Series, which emphasizes accessible distances, family participation, and race-day merchandise.
