Reservoir Dogs Trail Run
The Reservoir Dogs Trail Run is an October trail race held at San Pablo Reservoir, located near Orinda in the East Bay. All race distances commence and conclude at the San Pablo Reservoir Visitor Center. Participants can select from 5K, 10K, half marathon, or 35K distances. The event has a participant cap of approximately 300 individuals across all races. Inside Trail Racing organizes this event. The longer distances feature a 6.5-hour time limit, maintaining the structure of a genuine trail race as opposed to a casual reservoir run.
The course's distinctive feature is its complete circuit around Briones Reservoir using EBMUD trails, incorporating segments typically accessible only with permits. Expect a mix of moderately technical dirt paths, open fire roads, undulating hills, wooded single-track, winding single and double-track sections, exposed ridgelines, and expansive vistas of the watershed. The 10K, half marathon, and 35K races involve less elevation gain compared to many other Inside Trail events, allowing for faster times while still providing road runners with a true trail challenge. Aid stations are equipped with gels, trail mix, salty snacks, fruit, Coke, and Stroopwafels; however, participants must carry their own water between stations. Finishers receive a tech shirt and a medal, age-group victors are awarded trophies, and one participant receives the unique "Dead Last Finisher" award. Notably, dogs are prohibited despite the race's name.
The 2026 Run for Education
The Run for Education is a spring 5K, 10K, and Kids Fun Run held in El Segundo, California. Its purpose, reflected in the name, is to raise funds for the city’s K-12 public schools. The El Segundo PTA Council organizes the event, which is now in its fourth decade.
The 5K and 10K courses are USATF-certified, winding through downtown El Segundo and adjacent neighborhoods. These routes offer a measured course for competitive runners and a straightforward local path for casual participants. The field comprises competitive racers, joggers, walkers, families, and children. Age-group medals are awarded to the top three finishers in the 5K and 10K, with medals given to all participants who finish a race.
RMH BC & Yukon Boundary Bay
Boundary Bay is a late-fall race series held at Boundary Bay Park, Centennial Beach in Delta, British Columbia, offering 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon, and 4-person marathon relay distances. The marathon is presented as a final opportunity for runners aiming for a Boston qualifying time, featuring a straightforward course: a completely flat gravel oceanside trail with no elevation gain.
All distances follow an out-and-back route along British Columbia's southern coast, allowing participants to run beside Boundary Bay instead of through city streets. The course offers views across the Salish Sea towards the San Juan Islands, with migratory birds present and ocean weather as the primary variable. The race supports Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon. Organizers acknowledge the late-season timing by advising runners to dress warmly, bring dry clothes, and appreciate the clock-change weekend that may provide an extra hour of sleep.
2026 Run Against Hunger
Run Against Hunger is an annual run and walk in Stockton, California, held at 404 W. Fremont Street. The event features a 5K, a 10K, and a Kids 1/4 Mile Fun Run, allowing adults, children, runners, and walkers to select a distance suitable for them.
The series is hosted by the Emergency Food Bank Stockton/San Joaquin and presented by the Aaron Judge ALL RISE Foundation. This is the 22nd year for the event, with proceeds and awareness directed toward fighting hunger in the local community. The children's race contributes to its family-oriented atmosphere, distinguishing it from a typical road race.
12th Annual Tri-Valley Turkey Burn
The Tri-Valley Turkey Burn is a Thanksgiving morning 5K and 10K run, walk, or stroll held at Ken Mercer Sports Park in Pleasanton, California. It is designed for families, casual walkers, runners, strollers, and leashed dogs, with affordable registration fees for adults, youth, and children under 10.
The event embraces the holiday spirit: participants can create their own "I am thankful for..." race bib, coffee is available before the start, and snacks are provided afterward. A pre-race warm-up is offered, along with sponsor and nonprofit booths. Optional Turkey Burn apparel, including shirts, hats, socks, and sunglasses, is available for purchase, and all participants receive a finisher medal.
Bishop Ranch Turkey Trot
The Bishop Ranch Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving Day 5K held at Bishop Ranch City Center in San Ramon, California. This community race, timed with chips, offers two primary 5K choices: the FAST Turkey 5K for those aiming for under 40 minutes, and the Festive 5K for all others. A Tiny Turkey dash provides a 50-yard run for children under 5, making the morning suitable for racers, walkers, families, and spectators.
The course circles the lakes and gardens near Bishop Ranch City Center, featuring a level path of pavement and packed dirt. Costumes are encouraged, including turkey suits, and pets may accompany family groups. Registration fees benefit the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, lending the event a straightforward Thanksgiving theme: run, cheer, dress up, and support a local food bank before the holiday festivities commence.
Concord California Turkey Trot 5K
The Concord California Turkey Trot 5K begins at Newhall Park at 8 AM on Thanksgiving morning. This 5K run/walk in Concord, California, offers a family registration option, a charity entry, and a separate Kids Run presented by Liberty Gymnastics. The event supports Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa, directly linking the holiday race to a local food-service nonprofit.
The 5K course incorporates grass fields, park pathways, and city streets, creating a mixed-surface park run rather than a flat road-only race. Strollers and pets are permitted, though participants with them should begin at the rear to allow timed runners a clear start. All 5K participants receive a tech shirt and a medal. Children aged two and under may ride in a stroller without paid registration. The Kids Run is situated near the 5K start and finish at Newhall Community Park, featuring check-in and a group warm-up prior to a brief morning run for children.
Walnut Creek Half Marathon, Relay & 5K
Jingle All the Way 5K and 10K
The Jingle All the Way 5K and 10K is a holiday-season road race in Mountain House, California, held in early December. Participants can select either a 5K or a 10K, accommodating those seeking a short fun run and those desiring a longer local race.
The start and finish are located on Central Parkway. While the official race page offers limited course specifics, it indicates a straightforward community approach: participants may contact the race director via the event website, and runners are surveyed post-race regarding their recommendation likelihood to a friend.
Brazen New Year's Day 2027
Diablo Trails Challenge 2027
Diablo Trails Challenge starts and finishes at Castle Rock Recreation Area in Diablo Foothills Regional Park in Walnut Creek, with Mount Diablo as the main playground. Brazen Racing hosts the trail-running series, which offers a 5K, 10K, half marathon, and 50K, so the same event can suit a first trail race or a long day out for experienced ultra-runners. All races are professionally timed, finishers receive medals, and the event is part of the Ultra Half Series.
The longer routes reach well beyond Castle Rock, linking parkland such as Round Valley, Los Vaqueros Watershed, Morgan Territory, Mount Diablo State Park, and Shell Ridge Open Space before returning to the start area. The half marathon is listed as a 13.5-miler and includes hill climbing, quick descents, and runnable rolling sections. The race also serves a local conservation purpose: it raises money for Save Mount Diablo, with part of every entry fee going to the group. Save Mount Diablo has spent more than 50 years preserving and expanding open space around the mountain, helping grow protected land from 6,788 acres to more than 120,000 acres.
