The Red Moon Trail Run takes participants into Midland City Forest in Midland, Michigan, for an evening trail race illuminated by small LED lights. This annual event, presented by Bayne's Apple Valley and organized with Dig Deep Race Events, provides a daytime 5K and night options for the 5K, 10K, and 25K distances. The 5K is open to runners, walkers, and ruckers; the 10K includes runners and ruckers; and the 25K is for runners only.
The course features flat, wide-track trails and mountain bike trails, avoiding narrow single track. The start and finish are located in the field below the sledding hill, near the Monroe Road parking lot. Runners in longer distances will pass through the 5K finish arch on each lap, receiving split times. All finishers receive a medal, custom bib, chip timing, and free online photos from the finish arch. Participants of legal age may enjoy cold adult beverages in the designated tent. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Great Lakes Bay Veterans Coalition, supporting service members, veterans, and their families in the region.
