12th Annual Mighty Gobbler

The Mighty Gobbler takes place on Thanksgiving morning in Troy, Michigan, beginning in the parking lot at 3290 W. Big Beaver Road. A USATF-certified 5K run and a 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk are available, with the shorter event starting before the 5K. Organizers state the 5K is Michigan's only USATF-certified 5K course on Thanksgiving Day. The course incorporates roads and sidewalks through Troy neighborhoods and commercial areas. Lutheran Church of the Master organizes the event, attracting runners, walkers, costume-wearers, and families seeking a holiday race before Thanksgiving dinner. Local support is evident with cowbells, front-yard fire pits, inflatable turkeys, and a participant in a giant turkey suit. Since 2015, the Mighty Gobbler has contributed over $120,000 to the community, with race proceeds benefiting local charities and canned goods donated to Troy People Concerned.
