The Average Joe Run 5K in Miami takes place in Tropical Park, starting early in the morning. Its prize structure is unique: the most talked-about winner is the runner who finishes precisely in the middle of the pack. The race is billed as "the WORLD'S EASIEST 5k," emphasizing that speed isn't the only path to victory. While top finishers still receive recognition with awards for the first three men and women overall and the top two in each age group, the Average Joe and Average Jane awards are reserved for the male and female runners who finish in the middle.
The course features two water stations. The event is organized for both runners and walkers on the same course; runners are instructed to start at the front, and walkers begin further back. Strollers are permitted, but dogs are not. The morning's schedule includes music, a warm-up led by a fitness instructor, announcements, the National Anthem, and an awards ceremony followed by entertainment. All participants receive a race packet containing a bib, shirt, finisher medal, and race certificate. The food offering is straightforward and fits the theme: donuts, coffee, and water are provided during the event, with additional donuts and coffee available post-run.
