Charlottesville High School’s Curtis Elder Track hosts the All-Comers Summer Track Meets, offering runners four Tuesday evenings in July the chance to race on a proper track. There are no entry fees or official results. The Charlottesville Track Club initiated this series in the summer of 1975. The format is straightforward: register online beforehand, then participate in races from 100 meters up to two miles.
Participants may enter multiple events, with heats organized by age. A clock is present at the finish line, and children can receive ribbons after competing. The typical schedule features the 100m, mile, 200m, 2x400m relay, 800m, and two-mile races. Donations support track maintenance, and the meet will be canceled due to extreme heat or nearby lightning.
