The Ankeny Turkey Trot 5K is a Thanksgiving Day run and walk in Ankeny, Iowa, starting at 2006 S Ankeny Blvd. The main event is a 5K with timed and untimed options. The event also offers a kids’ 5K division for runners 11 and under, a free Kids Dash for ages 8 and under, and a virtual 5K for those who prefer to run elsewhere.
The race is presented as a new Thanksgiving tradition for the local community. Its clearest tradition is simple: everyone receives a donut at the finish line. The event is geared toward families as much as regular runners, with short youth options, walk-friendly entries, and a hashtag, #TurkeyTradition, for sharing race-day photos.
