The Ashburn Village Kids Triathlon is a youth multisport race in Ashburn, Virginia, for children ages 6 to 15. Competitors swim in an outdoor pool, ride their own bikes around the lake or nearby neighborhood roads, and finish with a run on a marked course. The start and finish are usually at the Ashburn Village Sports Pavilion or The Lakes Rec Center, depending on the setup. The race is designed for children rather than adults, with shorter distances that increase by age group.
Younger competitors may swim 50 meters, bike about 1 to 1.5 miles, and run about 0.75 to 1 mile, while older competitors work up to a 150-meter swim, 3-mile bike, and 2-mile run. Every participant needs a bike, a helmet, and basic swimming ability; aquatic staff are on deck, but not in the water. Packet pickup is held the Friday before race day. Finishers receive a shirt and ribbon or medal, age-group winners get trophies, real-time results are provided, and competitors may also get a small Kona Ice after finishing.
