Bayshore is a grassroots triathlon morning held at 5400 Ocean Blvd. in Long Beach, with transition at Bayshore and Ocean Blvd. The series offers athletes two distinct race options: the 70.4 distance includes a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike, and 13.1-mile run, while the Sprint consists of a 500-yard swim, 6-mile bike, and 4-mile run. The longer race serves as an early-season training assessment, and the Sprint is designed for first-time triathletes seeking a standard swim-bike-run format without the commitment of a lengthy event.
The Sprint begins with calm bay waters before athletes proceed to the ocean path for both the bike and run segments. The 70.4 bike leg follows a more traditional format: roads remain open, the bike lane is shared with the public, and riders navigate stoplights rather than a completely closed course. The long race has swim, bike, and run cutoffs, although athletes can continue after aid stations close; the Sprint has no cutoffs. Relays are available for both distances. Awards are presented only to the top three overall male and female finishers in the long and sprint races. All finishers receive chip timing, course aid, a shirt, a medal, and post-race food.
