The Boilermaker Walk, presented by Slocum-Dickson Medical Group, is a non-timed community walk in Utica, New York. It starts and finishes on the MVCC Utica campus, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and proceeding regardless of weather. This event is designed for individuals who wish to participate in the Boilermaker Experience without the competitive aspect of racing. The route is an out-and-back course of approximately 3.5 miles, with options for walkers to turn back at any point they choose. Distance markers are provided along the path to assist with this decision.
The route departs the campus via Culver Avenue, proceeding into T.R. Proctor Park and continuing toward F.T. Proctor Park. The terrain is primarily asphalt and concrete, with some sections of grass and minor variations underfoot. These parks are notable for their local history, having been funded by the Proctor family and designed by Frederick Law Olmsted Sr. and Jr. Participants are given a commemorative bib prior to the walk and a finisher’s pin upon completion. The Boilermaker Health & Wellness Expo is also available for attendees on the MVCC campus before or after the walk.
