The Bozeman Half Marathon & 10K begins in the southern foothills above Bozeman, Montana, descending toward historic Main Street downtown. This annual fall event offers two distances, a half marathon and a 10K, both contested at approximately 5,000 feet elevation in the Gallatin Valley. The race emphasizes speed, with organizers calling the courses fast, downhill, and “#MONTANAFAST,” featuring open views of Montana mountain ranges, including the Bridgers as the season begins to change.
The route is straightforward: runners start south of town, descend through the valley, and finish in Bozeman’s center, not at a distant park or fairground. Bozeman Running Company presents the event, partnering with the nonprofit Bozeman Distance Project to support local youth cross-country and track programs. This support aids teams with travel to competitive meets, uniforms, and other running necessities. The weekend also features a Friday night shakeout run at MAP Brewing, coordinated with the 5K Brew Run Series, adding a local running-community atmosphere before race morning.
