The Buffalo 50 begins at Granite Sports in Hill City, directing mountain bikers into the Southern Black Hills of South Dakota. This 50-mile mountain bike race consists of two 25-mile laps, offering solo endurance entries for those completing the full distance and relay options for teams sharing the effort.
The course combines dirt trails with segments of the Mickelson Trail, providing a true Black Hills racing experience instead of a basic road ride on mountain bikes. The event adopts the phrase “Ride. Roam. Repeat.”, reflecting its two-lap structure: depart, navigate the hills and trail sections, and then complete the circuit again.
