The Cedartown Wheelchair 5K is a wheelchair road race held at Peeks Park, 607 N College Street in Cedartown, Georgia. It is directly linked to an annual wheelchair athlete training camp that takes place in the summer. Camp registration includes entry to the 5K, most meals, a race shirt, an athlete gift, a track meet at Darlington School, and a talk on etiquette and strategy. Athletes may also register for the race only. Able-bodied friends, coaches, and family members can register for the camp with the athletes.
The 5K course features smooth roads and is noted by organizers for producing some of the fastest wheelchair 5K times globally. However, it includes technical sections, climbs, and downhills, making it more than just a speed test. The race starts are divided into two heats, with categories for open, masters, grandmasters, T52 quad, and junior athletes. Wheelchair racers from around the world participate. Prize money and custom trophies are awarded to the top three finishers in each division. The event connects Cedartown with the Shepherd Center, the Atlanta Track Club Peachtree 10K, and the Triple Crown Series prize purse. The host hotel is located a few hundred yards from the course. Camp registration covers transportation from Atlanta airport and onward transport to the Peachtree 10K host hotel.
