December Ice Scraper 5K

The December Ice Scraper 5K is a free winter 5K held in Lehigh Parkway, Allentown, Pennsylvania. It begins at the LVRR Clubhouse at 10:00 a.m. This is a straightforward local race that proceeds regardless of fog, snow, or rain, offering no awards and posting results after the event. The race has been a fixture of the Ice Scraper winter series since 2013. Participants aged 10 and older may register online until the Saturday night prior to race day. The course is accurately measured and predominantly flat, utilizing cinder trails and paved sections within the Parkway. Should ice cover the route, the race may shift to the main roads. The 60-minute time limit accommodates a 19:35 mile pace, allowing both runners and slower individuals comfortable with winter conditions to participate. Fire pits before and after the race, along with hot chocolate and snacks at the finish, provide a functional cold-weather tradition. Headphones, strollers, and dogs are prohibited as the course remains open.
