Emerald Mountain Trail Run

The Emerald Mountain Trail Run is a fall trail event in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It begins at the base of Howelsen Hill on Howelsen Parkway. The primary race is listed as 12K, but the course measures approximately 7.75 miles. Participants can also opt for a 5K, a 12K hike, or a 1-mile children's fun run. The 12K route ascends northwest from Howelsen Hill onto singletrack trails bordered by aspen trees. It reaches the summit of Emerald Mountain before returning via singletrack and cross-country segments to the base. This event has been held annually since 1985. It maintains modest entry fees and does not offer prize money, presenting itself as a community mountain-running occasion rather than a competitive race.
