FEAR Trail Fest is a 5-mile trail race held in Lewis Morris Park, Morristown, New Jersey. The race begins at 9:00 AM on Sunrise Lake Drive. It follows a lollipop-loop design, remaining entirely on unpaved trails, with a participant limit of 150. While designed as an accessible introduction to trail racing, the 569 feet of elevation gain, rocky sections, roots, and singletrack provide a challenge for seasoned trail runners.
The course starts on a wider section of Patriots Path, then transitions to the Yellow Trail for the primary loop before rejoining Patriots Path for the finish. The route ascends from approximately 377 feet to a high point of 625 feet, offering a five-mile run that is uneven rather than flat. Hikers are permitted with a 2:30 time limit. Organizers provide free course previews on the actual route for those wishing to familiarize themselves with the terrain beforehand. FEAR, a New Jersey-based coaching club known for its group runs and race-specific training, hosts the event, which is closely tied to its regular trail-running community.
