The Fiesta Topeka 5K is a run/walk held at the Oakland Community Center on NE Poplar Street in Topeka, Kansas. The 5K run follows a certified course, and the event also includes a 5K walk, accommodating both those aiming for a personal best and those participating for the community aspect of Fiesta Topeka. The race begins in the morning, proceeds regardless of weather, and supports Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
This event marks Topeka's longest-standing 5K run/walk, originating in 1977 with Paul Griego. It connects to the Capital City's Mexican heritage and customs, bringing together families, walkers, local runners, and competitive athletes in the same starting area. Children aged 10 and under may participate for free in a distinct event, and awards extend widely: overall trophies, age-group medals for participants aged 11 and older in five-year divisions, and Masters trophies for top finishers aged 70 and above.
