First Dam Scary Run 2026

The First Dam Scary Run begins next to Merlin Olsen Park in Logan, Utah. The 10K route heads up Canyon Road toward First Dam and the entrance to Logan Canyon. This Halloween-themed community race takes place around Halloween, offering 5K and 10K distances that both start and end on the east side of the park. Both distances cover the initial mile together. The 5K then diverts onto Crockett Avenue, passing through Logan's old Island neighborhood. The 10K continues on Canyon Road, turns around near the canyon entrance, and returns to merge with the 5K course for the conclusion. Originally named the First Dam Run, it now includes the Scary Run designation and is approaching its 50th year, reflecting a long local tradition. Recent participants have ranged from 3-year-olds to individuals around 80 years old, indicating the event is more of a local, all-ages gathering than a competition for elite athletes.
