Freedom Celebration 5K Race and Youth Run 2026

The Freedom Celebration 5K Race and Youth Run is a Fourth of July event in Champaign, Illinois, held on Kirby Avenue between State Farm Center and Gies Memorial Stadium. It features a 5K run, a 5K walk, and a short youth fun run. Proceeds benefit the Champaign County Freedom Celebration. The 5K entry fee is $30, and the Youth Run is $10. Online registration is the only option; no in-person sign-ups or payments by cash or check are accepted. The 5K follows an out-and-back route starting and ending on Kirby Avenue. It proceeds east on Kirby and Florida Avenues, turns north on Lincoln Avenue toward West California Avenue, and then returns to Kirby Avenue. Two water stations are provided along the 5K course. The Youth Run takes place entirely on Kirby Avenue, and an adult can accompany each child without registering. Awards are given to the overall male and female winners, top finishers in each age group, and the top five walkers. Recipients or a friend must be present to claim awards, as they will not be mailed or delivered.
