The Keweenaw Ultra Marathon is a trail-running weekend on Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula, in the Upper Peninsula near Copper Harbor. The program includes a 2K junior trail run, a non-competitive 10K run/hike, the 25K Carl Olson Memorial Adventure Run, and the 50K Keweenaw Trail Ultra, catering to families, hikers, short-course racers, and ultrarunners.
The races utilize rugged local trails. The 6K Mt. Baldy Summit Run ascends to a Lake Superior view, while other routes pass Point Trail, Lake Fanny Hooe, and the Copper Harbor IMBA Epic trail system. Runners can also “conquer the weekend” by completing the Mt. Baldy Summit Run, the 10K Copper Harbor Trails Adventure, and the 25K COMA Run. Combined-time awards are given to the top five men and women, with additional awards for U23, middle-of-the-pack finishers, and a Finnish Sisu award. Door prizes are awarded throughout the weekend, and proceeds benefit youth cross-country ski instruction in Houghton and Keweenaw counties.
