The Lake Chabot Trail Run begins and ends at the Marina in Lake Chabot Regional Park, Castro Valley, California. Race days are scheduled for Saturdays in April and November. This event offers multiple trail running distances, including a 2-mile sprint, 5-mile and 8K options, a half marathon, 30K, marathon, and 50K. A free 50-yard dash is available for children aged six and under.
The course encircles the Lake Chabot reservoir and extends into the adjacent hills. Participants can enjoy a park trail race without the commitment of an ultra-distance. Organizers suggest it is a suitable course for those new to trail running. Distances are precisely measured using a Rolatape surveyor's measuring wheel, avoiding estimations based on trail conditions.
