The LeaLea Charity Run 5K is a short community race at Ala Moana Beach Park in Honolulu. Local runners and tourists share the same easy-distance event. Hosted by HIS, it draws about 400 participants and is now in its 11th edition.
The race ties its 5K to care for the island rather than just a finish time. All proceeds go to the Waikiki Aquarium, and runners finish the day by joining a beach cleanup. The event also leans into Malama Hawaii, the Hawaiian value of taking care of and protecting Hawaii. The post-race table includes local favorites like shave ice, malasadas, and spam musubi.
