The Lincoln Mile is a late-summer, early-evening one-mile race held in Delaware, Ohio’s historic Northwest neighborhood. It begins near the Delaware Hayes High School tennis courts at the top of Lincoln Avenue, proceeding directly through neighborhood streets before concluding in Mingo Park.
The race is divided into heats, ensuring high school runners, community runners, and faster milers do not compete simultaneously. The High School Challenge Mile is for ages 13 to 18 and can be run individually or as a team. The Community Open Mile is open to most participants, including younger children capable of completing the distance. Separate elite women’s and men’s miles provide dedicated fields for serious racers, with suggested qualifying times of 5:15 for women and 4:45 for men. The course features a distinct second half: after a straightforward neighborhood run, the final half mile descends into Mingo Park.
