Loup Garou Trail Run is a trail running series named after the Cajun werewolf legend, pronounced "loo-gah-roo." The race materials focus on long-distance trail efforts, including 100-mile finishes, and the event maintains 200-mile and 500-mile clubs for runners who return and accumulate miles over time.
The finish line reflects much of the race's personality: runners have finished in tears, laughter, and hugs, and one runner proposed there after his girlfriend crewed him for 100 miles. The race has also held deeply personal moments, including ashes of a trail runner being spread at the finish after his wife completed her 100 miler. Volunteers support runners before, during, and after the race, and repeat finishers are part of the culture; Mike Smith logged 900 miles at Loup Garou while earning his 245th 100-mile finish.
