MCW The Holmdel Classic is a trail race at Holmdel Park in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Every distance uses the same measured 4.65-mile lap. Runners can select the 50 km-ish race (seven laps), the Halfish (three laps), or a single-lap option. The event accommodates both ultra runners and those seeking a single challenging loop on dirt. RFID timing records each lap, and a strict eight-hour cutoff requires a pace of about 4.07 mph.
The loop consists of trail and double track, featuring grass, dirt, rock, roots, gravel, and some pavement. Each lap begins across an open grass field, climbs for approximately a quarter mile, reaches The Bowl around mile 1.5, and then ascends steeply before continuing over rolling sections. The lap gains 584 feet, so the longer distances accumulate elevation rapidly. Course markings include lawn signs, pink flagging tape, and signs on cones. Aid is provided at the start and finish with drinks, snacks, hydration, and basic first aid; there are no aid stations on the loop and no prepared food on course. Runners may carry their own supplies, spectators are welcome, pacers are not permitted, and all proceeds support MissionCleanWater’s efforts in installing and maintaining clean water systems.
