Moonlight Madness 2026

Moonlight Madness is a two-mile night run and walk in Shasta Lake, California, with the route crossing Shasta Dam. The event is suitable for walkers, kids, and newer runners, and it also has a separate 2-Mile Kids 18 and Under option. The dam crossing is the main attraction: instead of a standard road loop, participants cover the distance after dark on one of Northern California’s significant landmarks. Glow sticks are provided, music is part of the evening, and the competitive aspect is straightforward, with awards for the top overall finishers and custom medals for the top three in each five-year age group. Midnite Racing & Timing organizes the race, along with other local events such as Frosty Fun Runs, Sunset Through the Trees, 12Ks of Christmas, and Nail the Rail Half.
