About
The New England Six Pack is a small randonneuring series based at the Residence Inn in downtown Manchester, offering 1200k, 1000k, and 200k options. It takes place in late September. The long events have deliberate limits: the 1200k and 1000k share a combined cap of 40 riders, while the separate 200k brevet has no rider cap. This is not a casual charity ride; riders require Randonneurs USA membership and must have completed at least one 600km brevet in the previous two years, unless the organizer grants permission.
The long routes start and finish each day at the same downtown hotel, simplifying logistics compared to a point-to-point ultra-distance ride. The preliminary 1200k route, posted on RideWithGPS, lists 39,128 feet of climbing, indicating that the difficulty extends beyond just the distance. The entry fee for the 1200k or 1000k is $200, with a discount for NER season pass holders. Finishers are expected to receive a medal. A hotel room block and suites with kitchenettes highlight the practical needs of the event: riders are preparing for several days of riding, recovery, food, sleep, and repeated effort.
