The Pisgah 555 MTB / Running Race takes place near Brevard, North Carolina, within Pisgah National Forest. The event centers on long days of racing on mountain trails and gravel roads. The mountain-bike component features the Pisgah Stage Race, available in 5-day and 3-day options, and the Pisgah 111, a 65.1-mile cross-country endurance race covering 10,200 feet of elevation gain. The Pisgah 111 is scheduled during the forest's peak fall foliage, offering participants the full autumn experience of Pisgah on a course that challenges both physical endurance and respiratory capacity.
The Pisgah 111 course relies on marked arrows for navigation, though participants are advised to review the map and cue sheets beforehand. Four rest areas, situated at three distinct points, offer water, food, first aid, and neutral mechanical support. Riders can also arrange for drop bags to be sent ahead. The race rules emphasize self-sufficiency: helmets are mandatory, e-bikes are prohibited, external support is forbidden, and participants may only assist each other during the race. Pisgah Productions was founded with a philosophy similar to PMBAR: to challenge individuals beyond their perceived limits and then celebrate their achievements.
