Race to the Sunset 5k

Race to the Sunset 5k is a September 5K run/walk in Chesterton, Indiana, starting from 1600 N 25 E Rooftop in the early evening. It is event #9 in the Race the Region Racing Series, with a 6:20 PM start and awards scheduled about an hour later. Runners and walkers compete for overall and age-group awards, but the extra hook is right in the name: everyone is trying to finish before sunset. Every finisher gets a medal, and anyone who beats the sunset gets a special version. The race uses chip timing for finish results, timing mats at the start, live results by text and email, and directional signs at every turn. Registration is online only, with race-day signup open until shortly before the start, and participants must begin before 6:30 PM to stay eligible.
