The Spirits Run for ALS Illinois Series begins with Stop #1 in Chicago. This event supports international endurance runner Enric Casacuberta's journey down Route 66 to raise awareness and funds for ALS. The 6.6K race is noncompetitive and community-focused, welcoming runners, walkers, families, and supporters of all paces. The route starts at Addams (Jane) Memorial Park and finishes at the historic "Begin" sign for Route 66 at Adams & Michigan, marking the start of Enric's 301-mile journey through Illinois. Participants will use sidewalks, pedestrian paths, and marked crosswalks. No streets will be closed, but volunteers will assist with navigation and safety. The event aims to combine Chicago history, community spirit, and support for ALS research and advocacy. If community turnout is high, a request may be made for limited road closures to improve participant safety and visibility.
