Run Caney

Run Caney is a trail race in Kisatchie National Forest near Minden, Louisiana, starting and finishing at the park’s Day Use Area. Participants can choose from three options: a 3-mile 5K walk or run, a 6-mile trail race, or a 12-mile trail race. The event includes the standard park usage fee. The course loops around Upper Caney Lake on natural forest terrain, featuring oak flats, small hills, and a moderate amount of rocks and roots. It avoids significant climbs and highly technical obstacles, making it suitable for first-time trail runners while still offering a solid dirt-and-forest experience for regular trail runners. The organizers call it “Old School Style,” with awards reflecting this: overall male and female winners in each distance are recognized, and age-group winners receive handmade ornaments.
