Run The Mounds is a trail race held in early spring at Mounds State Park in Anderson, Indiana, located less than an hour from downtown Indianapolis. Participants can select either a 15K or a 5K race, with both beginning just inside the park gatehouse. This event is part of the DINO series. The facilities include a heated pavilion and heated restrooms for participants before and after the run.
The 15K course proceeds south from the gatehouse, while the 5K course begins to the north. Aid stations are positioned approximately every two miles. The course features moderate hills, rated 3 out of 5 for difficulty, and footing that is relatively manageable, rated 2 out of 5 for surface difficulty. Mounds State Park offers White River views and the ceremonial earthworks that are the park's namesake feature. Madison County residents receive a half-price entry with identification, and season passes are available for those participating in multiple series events.
