Run The Rock is a weekend trail race series held at Smith Rock State Park in Terrebonne, Oregon, near Bend. It offers 50K, 25K, and half marathon distances. The 50K and 25K take place on Saturday, with the half marathon on Sunday. All three events utilize trails within Smith Rock State Park and the Crooked River National Grasslands. Runners will see views of the Cascade Range, from Mount Hood to Mount Bachelor, and get close views of the park’s sheer rock formations.
The 50K course crosses nearly all trails in Smith Rock State Park, ascends Misery Ridge, goes below Monkey Face, circles Gray Butte, and includes approximately 5,000 feet of elevation gain and 5,000 feet of loss. The majority of this course is singletrack, with sections of double track and dirt road, supported by four aid stations. The 25K climbs Burma Road towards Gray Butte, featuring about 3,300 feet of gain. The half marathon covers 13.1 miles with roughly 2,500 feet of climbing, primarily on singletrack. A registration discount is available for veterans around Veterans Day. Participants park off-site at DD Ranch and use a shuttle service. The finish area provides custom awards, pre-race coffee, and a post-race burrito bar with beer. The race also benefits the Ridgeview High School cross-country team.
