The Sabino Canyon Sunset Run is an evening race held in Sabino Canyon, within Coronado National Forest near Tucson, Arizona. The primary event is a 7.4-mile run commencing at 5:30 p.m. MST. A 2-mile fun run and walk begins ten minutes later, offering a shorter alternative.
The 7.4-mile race incorporates the canyon's terrain as its principal challenge. Participants must maintain a pace under 19 minutes per mile, reach the turnaround point within 70 minutes, and pass mile 5.1 within 95 minutes, or they will be removed from the course for safety reasons. Entry numbers are limited and typically sell out rapidly. Finishers of the 7.4-mile distance receive a medal. Both distances include a shirt. The post-race festivities feature pizza, snacks, eegees, music, and awards for overall winners, masters, and age-group runners up to 80 years old in five-year increments.
