The Savannah River Marathon crosses the South Carolina-Georgia border on a small autumn race day based in North Augusta and Augusta. It provides a full marathon, half marathon, and 10K, with staggered morning starts and a total field limited to approximately 225 runners across all distances.
The marathon begins and ends at the Lake Olmstead entrance to the Augusta Canal Trail, then proceeds out and back alongside the Savannah River. The course follows the North Augusta Greeneway, River Levee Trail, and Augusta Canal Trail, combining rolling hills, riverfront sections, and tree-lined paths. Augusta Run Club organizes the event, and the seven-hour finish limit accommodates a wide range of runners without becoming a large city marathon.
