Sunset Bay Trail Runs offers a series of races at Sunset State Park on the Oregon Coast. Participants can choose from a half marathon, 15K, 4-mile, or 1-mile run. The race is described as a low-frills event, with a basic entry option that excludes a T-shirt to reduce costs. A moisture-wicking shirt is available for an additional purchase.
The course winds through forested hills before reaching a flat section along the ocean cliffs. From this vantage point, runners might spot sea lions, offshore rocks, the blue ocean, and occasionally a whale. As the course is open to traffic, the RRCA-sanctioned race prohibits headphones, bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, animals, and jogging strollers. Proceeds benefit the Pregnancy Resource Center in Coos Bay. Ribbons are awarded to the top three overall finishers and the winners in each age group.
