The Tacky Turkey Sweater 5k is an annual 5k held at Green Lake Park in Seattle. The start and finish are located outside the Green Lake Community Center on the east side. This event combines a pre-Turkey Day run with an ugly-sweater contest, encouraging participants to wear loud turkey sweaters, holiday knits, or anything deliberately over the top. It is open to all ages, offering adult entry, a paid kids' option for ages 14 and under, and a free untimed kids' entry without a bib, medal, or other perks.
The course is centered around Green Lake, situated in the Green Lake/Wallingford area, making it a neighborhood 5k. Race morning activities include packet pickup, a brief pre-race briefing, and a 10:00 a.m. start. Finishers receive custom wooden medals, known as Woodles, crafted by Ridgeway Woodworks as a more sustainable option than metal medals. The race also provides long-sleeve shirts, complimentary professional photos, photo backdrops, available swag, and finish-line treats, extending the goofy sweater theme beyond the run.
