The Grand Traverse

The Grand Traverse, established in 1998, sends competitors from Crested Butte over the Elk Mountains to Aspen. It was inspired by 1880s mail routes connecting those Colorado mining towns. Originally an Extraordinary Backcountry Ski Race, it now includes summer mountain runs and bike events. The race is a major fundraiser for Crested Butte Nordic.
