Color powder, foam, and bubbles are part of the run itself at the Spectrum of Color 5K Fun Run in Wheeling, West Virginia. The event starts and finishes at Heritage Port on Water Street. It is a sensory-friendly, inclusive, untimed 5K focused on enjoyment, not speed. The run takes place in June, with race-day packet pickup starting at midday and a late-afternoon start following a pre-race gathering.
The route begins at the waterfront and proceeds onto the trail, a modification to keep runners clear of roadwork and construction. Every participant who finishes the full course receives an award. The day also features a birthday party for Augusta Levy, complete with inflatables, balloon animals, face painting, music, and cake. The event has roots in over twenty years of local history and supports the Shawn Ramsay Autism Scholarship. Families are a key focus: children under four are admitted free, kids ages four to nine have a reduced entry fee, and early registrants get a shirt, sunglasses, and an Augusta Levy Autism Ambassador sticker.
