The Tri-State Warrior Run is an annual run and walk held on the historic grounds of the Illinois Veterans Home, a campus established in 1886. The event features a 1 Mile Walk and 5K, 10K, and half marathon races. Chip timing is provided for the running distances, and virtual options are available for those unable to attend in person. Proceeds benefit Tri-State Warrior Outreach, an organization that assists local veterans and their families, and the event has supported veterans since 2012.
The routes begin and end behind the Administration building on the Veterans Home grounds. Runners will pass historic architecture, wooded areas, Deer Park, U.S. military memorials, the Avenue of Flags, Sunset Cemetery, and the Medal of Honor Memorial before finishing the Cedar Creek Trail loop. The 5K, 10K, and half marathon courses include hills and cross railroad tracks, meaning a passing train could cause a temporary stop. Participants who finish receive dog tag-style medals, a detail aligning with the race's veteran-focused mission.
