The Trick-or-Trot 5K & Fun Run takes place at Washington Park in Albany during October, close to Halloween. The primary event is a 5K, and costumes are central from the beginning: participants are encouraged to wear anything from a simple pumpkin outfit to a detailed monster costume. The event caters to a wide audience, offering age-based divisional awards, prizes for the best costumes, random prize drawings, chip timing, and wicking shirts for those who register.
The course incorporates Halloween props and minor obstacles into the standard park route, guiding participants through a witch's village, past ghouls and ghosts, and across a pumpkin patch. Following the race, attendees can stay for a party featuring a DJ, vendors, decorations, giveaways, and additional prizes. Strollers are permitted but must begin at the rear, highlighting the race's practical, family-oriented design. Paid parking is available in nearby ParkAlbany lots, including one with DC fast EV chargers. The event regulations prohibit alcohol, glass containers, and pets, with the exception of ADA-defined service animals.
