The Chris Brown Tulsa DU is a run-bike-run duathlon at Mohawk Park in Tulsa, Oklahoma, held around National Ice Cream Sandwich Day. Adults complete a 5km road run, a 25km road bike leg, and a second 5km road run. This structure offers beginners a straightforward entry into multisport racing while allowing experienced athletes to challenge themselves.
Race morning begins early, with transition opening before sunrise and closing shortly before the start. Athletes must be off the bike and onto the final run by mid-morning. The run course is contained within Mohawk Park on a closed paved road that is fast and flat. The bike leg utilizes Tulsa city streets, featuring mostly flat riding with some rolling hills. Tulsa Area Triathletes, a local nonprofit club, organizes the event with RunnersWorld Racing, integrating it with the area’s running and triathlon community. A kids’ duathlon follows the adult race on closed park roads without public traffic. Ages 6-8 race a half-mile run, 1-mile bike, and half-mile run. Ages 9-12 race a 1-mile run, 2-mile bike, and 1-mile run. Kids require helmets and working brakes; USA Triathlon membership is also needed. Every child finisher receives a medal, with overall awards for the top three boys and girls.
