The Wakefield Birthday Bash Road Race begins at 3rd and Dogwood in Wakefield, Kansas, offering a 10K road race and a 1-mile fun run connected to the town’s Birthday Bash. The 10K starts on a wide street before transitioning to paved highway sections featuring gentle inclines and open, flat areas near Milford Lake. The 1-mile route also starts on a wide street, remains flat, and is designed for a swift, relaxed outing rather than a demanding road race.
The races welcome runners and walkers of all skill levels, accommodating competitive 10K participants, local families, and individuals attending the Bash on foot. The 10K includes an aid station at 3.5 miles and a support vehicle for assistance. The fun run features a small obstacle course around the midpoint and water at the finish. Awards are presented to the top three overall finishers in the 10K, with age-group medals in addition to the overall trophies. The 1-mile race also recognizes its top three finishers. Proceeds are divided between the Wakefield Birthday Bash general fund and the Wakefield Elementary PTO.
