Sydney Marathon 2026

The Sydney Marathon takes runners across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and concludes in front of the Sydney Opera House. Held annually in Sydney, Australia, the race series features a full marathon, a 21.1k, a 10k, a 5k Mini Marathon, and a 3.5k Family Run. It is Australia’s largest marathon, the biggest in Australasia, a World Athletics Platinum Label race, and the seventh Abbott World Marathon Major. The course crosses iconic Sydney locations, including Circular Quay and Centennial Park, with three of the four main distances finishing at the Opera House. Over 40,000 participants from more than 66 countries compete, supported by approximately 125,000 spectators. The event originated from the Sydney Olympic legacy, is the sole Australian running event broadcast live annually, and has generated over $23 million for charities since its inception.
