Om dette løpet
Ultra Montaña Palentina is a mountain running series held in Camporredondo de Alba, within Spain’s Castile and León region, featuring races inside the Montaña Palentina Natural Park. Participants can select from four distances: 65 km, 44 km, 21 km, and 6 km. The 65 km race presents a significant challenge, featuring 4,500 meters of elevation gain over its course, emphasizing steep terrain typical of trail running rather than a fast, flat route.
The event also links to European masters competition. The Trail Fuentes Carrionas and Maratón Montaña Palentina are part of the EMA Off-Road Running Circuit, an international circuit for mountain runners aged 35 to 79. This circuit includes events in France, Italy, Romania, and Spain, with the Montaña Palentina race concluding the series in September. Route details indicate high mountain terrain and park features, such as the Agujas area. Organizers anticipate the European connection will attract more international participants. The region has previously hosted international mountain running for under-18 athletes in Barruelo de Santullán and Aguilar de Campoo, suggesting a broader significance for the event beyond a local trail race.
