Om dette løpet
The 9/11 Heroes Run in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, offers a 5K course for runners, walkers, and ruckers. A separate 1-mile run/walk is named for Cpl Dane Freedman. The race commemorates those lost and the responders from 9/11, as well as military members, veterans, first responders, and families of the fallen who continue that service. Active duty military and first responders have distinct entry categories, aligning with the event's purpose rather than its classification as a typical local road race.
The ruck division distinguishes the event: participants can complete the 5K carrying weighted rucksacks, a format inspired by special forces training. The series collaborates with GORUCK, and registered ruckers receive a TMF GORUCK patch. Harrisburg's inaugural event saw over 100 participants. The race is designed for a diverse group including experienced runners, walkers, service members, families, and individuals participating to observe 9/11 through a public, physical activity.
