Graz sits at 353 metres elevation in southeastern Austria with the Mur River running through its compact city centre and Schlossberg hill (473m) rising immediately above. Runners gravitate to the flat riverside paths for easy kilometres, though the Graz Marathon and Ladies Run Graz both use the city's circuit routes; the Steirischer Leukämiehilfelauf adds a community 5K option. Cyclists face immediate climbing to Schlossberg or head into the Alpine foothills south and west toward Schladming, where the Alpentour Schladming Dachstein (127km) is the region's serious endurance event, and the Grazer Altstadt.Kriterium races through the old town streets.
